Conveyor for feeding giraffes

How can giraffes be easily moved at Kinderzoo Rapperswil? Students at the University of Applied Sciences Rapperswil solved this question as part of a course assignment and we were commissioned to produce it. The structure should help move the animals whilst also being visitor and child-friendly.

Together with Knie's Kinderzoo and the University of Applied Sciences Rapperswil, we developed a control unit that calls up a display with a crank. When the display is “full”, it’s time to hit the start button. At this point the feed baskets start to move in the giraffe section, as well as the giraffes who want to feed.

The conveyor for feeding giraffes is 135 m in length and heads around the enclosure with a triangular layout.
