Rope installation, national stadium Warsaw

Special assembly

The national stadium in Polish Warsaw was built anew for the European Championships 2012. The new stadium offers about 55,000 seats and was completed in the summer of 2011.

This building is made special by its roof. The entire roof rope structure is based on a free-floating "needle". The "needle" is held by a sophisticated rope structure. The lower needle tip is suspended about 30 m above the playing field. The "needle" is 70 m high and has a weight of approx. 90 tons. About 2,100 tons of rope, with a total length of about 70 kilometers, was installed for carrying the entire stadium roofing.

The Inauen-Schätti assembly team was able to perform handling of the ropes in this interesting project.
